(Note: Did you notice that the word Ovi in the image above goes well with my blog’s theme??!! Nerd smile)

Hello world! Open-mouthed smile

1st I want to apologize for not blogging much lately, I even stopped tweeting a lot, that’s because we’re in Ramadan (fasting month in Islam Smile) and I don’t have much time, which brings me back to Nokia Red heart and Ovi Store which gave us amazing apps for this month, I Red heart you!!

loool

So today’s post is going to be about the Ovi Blog, the 1st website I check every morning after my emails of course (lol Smile with tongue out)

ovi-blog

Nokia has a lot of blogs, each of them is dedicated to a service, but the Ovi blog is totally unique *_*

First of all, the Ovi blog covers everything Ovi related; Ovi Mail, Ovi Store, Ovi Maps….etc in a nice and clean design, nice for reading =).

They also have fun stuff going on like Fun Friday, Old School, and a lots of competitions and Ovi Swag!!! and seriously, I mean a lot!!!

The latest competition was Nokia World 2010’s, they’ve been giving away free tickets, sadly I was unable to participate for reasons…Sad smile I’m sure they’ll be others Smile besides that, now, they’re looking for Ovi fans to interview! YaaY, and I can say, happily, that I love and enjoy Ovi more now that we have GPS available! I’ve been playing and discovering new places with Ovi Maps like never before! Open-mouthed smile

For sure, the Ovi Blog wouldn’t be so awesome if awesome people didn’t work in it!!! They did a great job but I must say, and I think a lot of you Ovi fans will agree with me, that Niini (a.k.a Miss Ovi Blog) is the awesome one! She’s the one who keeps the blog alive, she posts many articles a day, she answers our comments and interact with them, not just pass by and say hi and thanx, she actually read them! She’s friendly, cute, a nice person, geek (as far as I know!) and she loves pink, are there better combinations?? Winking smile

If you want to know more about her, I suggest you go and check out the interview Ovi blog did with her Smile

So…mmm.. what else?!Thinking smile

Well, I think you should go and check it out for yourself and see, you won’t be disappointed, I promise Winking smile

They’ve also released a mobile version of their blog, just visit blog.ovi.com on your mobile and you’ll be good to go Smile You can also keep up with the latest news by following them on twitter @OviByNokia

Oh, and I know I said I made an app of my blog using Ovi App Wizard, sadly it got rejected for some reasons, I’ll be fixing them and resubmit it Open-mouthed smile

P.S: Once I get (lets hope! Flirt male) Photoshop CS5 I’ll be working on a fun little gift for you Ovi fans Open-mouthed smile

I’m so hungry and tired nowDisappointed smile, lool ^_^ , so see you soon,

Review: Brightkite

brightkite-mobile

As quoted from Wikipedia:

Brightkite is a location-based social networking website that is available on any mobile device. Users "check in" at places by using text messaging or one of the mobile applications and they can see who is nearby and who has been there before. The service was created in 2007 by Brady Becker, Martin May and Alan Seideman who previously founded the SMS notification service Loopnote. In April 2009 Brightkite was acquired by mobile social network Limbo.

Brightkite allows registered users to connect with their existing friends and also meet new people based on the places that they go. Once a user "checks in" at a place, they can post notes and photos to that location and other users can comment on these posts. Users control the privacy of their updates and can choose to share them with their Twitter and Facebook accounts, while also having the option to share their geotagged photo posts to Flickr.

Brightkite is available worldwide.

Brightkite currently has applications for iPhone, Android, Symbian, Blackberry and others. There is an open source third party app for BlackBerry called "myKite" and webOS called "Parafoil" .

Note: I edited the links so each one will take you to the appropriate store Smile.

and here’s how the Symbian version of the app looks like on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Open-mouthed smile

Review: Wakoopa

Thursday, July 15, 2010 4 Comments A+ a-

As they describe Wakoopa on their on website:

Wakoopa is a social network that helps people discover the best software, games and web apps on the market. Sign-up, install a small tracker on your desktop and automatically create your online software profile that you can share with friends and the world, also through widgets. Wakoopa keeps you updated about what your contacts are using, and sends you smart recommendations. Games, audio & video players, instant messengers or office tools: Wakoopa knows what's hot.

I've been using this service for over a year and it's really fun and I love it :)

Here's the video review of it:

Ubuntu: Coming soon!

Monday, June 14, 2010 6 Comments A+ a-

Hello world!

So, yeah!! I’ve decided to give Ubuntu a big shot :D

16k57p3

I'm currently, at the time of writing this post downloading it and going to test it after burning it to a CD and if I like it enough (I will mostly ;) ) I’ll install it with Wubi to dual boot with Windows7 as I can’t give it up but who knows?! I just might do so ;)

So, once I try it out and everything, I’ll be reviewing it. Just for the record, I’m downloading Ubuntu 10.4 or 10.4 aka Lucid Lynx :D

I did pretty much a good job studying how it works, what it needs, what’s in it what’s not, pros, cons, common problems… etc

I just want to say a big thank you to all my awesome friends on twitter and facebook who helped me and gave me advices and opinions ^_^

Wish me luck and I’ll come back soon to update the post when I’m done… :D

Review: The All New Ovi Mail By Nokia

Thursday, June 10, 2010 6 Comments A+ a-

As promised, here’s the review on the new Ovi Mail :).

Capture2

Ovi Mail By Nokia is a new email service from Ovi. It’s really simple and easy to use and it has some great features with other improvement needed :). It was released in early 2009 as mentioned in their blog post celebrating 10 million accounts created in 18 months all over the globe and i started using it middle October when i got my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic :D. It’s so simple and easy to use, it has a clean interface with basic features.

The interface:

Capture

Now I’m going to talk about about what I love about it and what I think it really could be an improvement,  just an opinion ;)

The best things ever that aren’t in any other email service or better than theirs:

- It has one of the easy to use interfaces out there, it’s clean and simple.

- The interface(which I thing is AJAX, correct me if I’m wrong) is so smooth, just the way you read your emails, organize them and reply to them is just an amazing experience.

- I love its folders because they are so simple and once you click on one BOOM it opens so fast (Damn Yahoo!… >_<”) lol.

- It integrates seamlessly with your Nokia device and all the Ovi services such as Ovi Store.

- It syncs your Contacts with the address book in Ovi Mail so you always have your contacts in sync  wherever you go :D in addition to your Calendar and notes XD.

- Oh yeah, it has IMAP so you can sync it to your desktop client and non Nokia phones. The IMAP is enabled by default and there’s no option to turn it off. Why would you turn off the IMAP ?!

- It’s available in every popular language on earth! and yes even in Arabic :D

- It has absolutely NO ads!!! :D Love ya <3<3<3

Now to the things it needs to improve (It doesn’t suck even without them :p):

- We need more storage! 1Gb isn’t enough at all, hopefully after Nokia’s partnership with Yahoo! we’ll get more.. who knows… :/

- Filters! I love how I can sync my folders in Ovi Mail with my Tube (a.k.a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic) but I’d love to see where emails belong :) p.S: I still love to organize my emails manually in the web version of Ovi Mail because of the interface :D.

- A better attachment tool, we would like a multi-uploadr for sharing photos and so :)

That’s it! Phew… O_o

Now to the real thing, the video review:

[viddler id=8ca2394f&w=437&h=333]

From me; if you have a Nokia device you must give it a shut, you’ll be surprised how well it makes communicating easier :) If you don’t have a Nokia device, it still could be a great choice, try it out and decide for your self.

For me, I’ll never stop using it even if it’s only 1Gb of storage :D

Finally, you can follow the Ovi Team on Twitter and show them some love :)

Hope you liked it and let me know what you think in the comments :)

Take Care and See You Soon,

Randa

Me and the two past weeks :)

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 5 Comments A+ a-

I missed youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu !!!!!!!!

I’m so exited as I’m not just done with exams but I also just received my WiFi at this very moment  (It’s 1:20 pm right now XD) !!!

Well, What’s up?? This week was the longest and the worst week I’ve ever had :( !!! It was boring and stupid and since without any internet you can guess how I felt T_T

Actually, as I’m writing this, I don’t have internet; my father went to bring the modem and stuff…

Now it’s only a month and I’ll have our summer vacation :D, hopefully everything will go well and no disasters happen :s (like last summer :( )

But, I’M REALLY EXITED !!

Loool, you must forgive my stupidity as I had no internet for almost two weeks now and no credit in  my phone to check everything !!!

Damn! Life is so hard without internet, I felt like my other part, actually all of me died. I kept playing the same game “Uno” on my phone over and over and over… The battery didn’t stand an hour!!!

I feel like I was ill and sick and now I’m actually breathing :D

Except, I have tests next week…. >_< but it’s okay. I learnt a bunch of things from the past two weeks including anger and anxiety can be controlled by many ways, the most important one, for me of course that worked like a charm, reading Quran. I can’t tell how relaxed I feel, after one year of suffering from anger, high blood pressure, stomach ill and anxiety I finally feel peaceful :)

I always say: “We make who we are” ;D <<< I’m getting smarter !!! ^_^

Update: I wouldn’t be able to install the WiFi and use it if my bestie Nacer didn’t help me ^.^ So thank you so much and God bless you <3

See you soon

App review: Nokia feel

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 4 Comments A+ a-

Hello again!!!

Looooong time since I blogged here :( I miss my blog so much *_*

However, I’ll give you a full review of the new Nokia Feel app in it’s Beta version.

Nokia Feel:

A fun and surprising way to explore what your device can do, based on how you feel.

or as they describe it on their page:

Most devices today are very rational to use. They offer a solution based on a need, when you know what you want to do. Nokia Feel helps you discover what you can do with your device in a more spontaneous way. When you tell it how you feel, the application suggests a few things you could do. In this way, discovering the capabilities of your device can be emotional, surprising, and fun.
When you open the application you can select how you feel – are you feeling Energetic, Lucky, Lonely, Happy, Hungry, Bored, Lost, Caring or Creative? And when you have told it how you feel, the application suggests a few things you could do.

The review:

Scr000013

When you download it this is how it looks like, with the name “Feel”.

Scr000005

When you lunch it, each time, you have to allow it to read your phone’s data. I’ve been using it for almost a week now and I can say it’s safe to allow it. However, if you don’t you wont be able to use the app.

Scr000006 Scr000007 Scr000008

When you allow it, after a moment, this is what you’re going to see (one of the screenshots of course) and you can click on the shuffle button in the lower left corner to show you more options(or moods).

Scr000009 Scr000010 Scr000011

After you choose your mood, and depending on the mood, options of what you can do show up. It gives you also app suggestions, sometimes ( I didn’t take a shot for that).

Compatibility:

Nokia s60v5 phones. I’ve tested it on my Nokia 5800 with firmware v40 :)

You can download it from it’s page and you must have a Nokia account for that since it’s only in Beta version :).

Final opinion:

The app is cool, it can help you discover more about your mobile (like it did with me!!). I just wish I could set the mood’s photo as a wallpaper!!! It would’ve been sweet ^_^

The only thing I somehow find bad (not that bad but disturbing if you want everything perfect like me 0_O) is that it’s slow when you start it after you allow it, but I guess this is because it’s reading the phone’s data!!! But once it starts, everything is just so smooth :D

That’s it for now, hopefully you enjoy it and if you have anything to add I’ll be glad to update my post :)

See you soon ;)
